Stirling is strategically situated at
the top of a triangle formed by Glasgow to the south
west and Edinburgh to the south east. Once
Scotlands capital, the city is rich in history
and striking architecture.
It was at the 1297 Battle of Stirling
Bridge that William Wallace outflanked the English
army. This in turn enabled Robert the Bruce to
secure a longlasting independence following the
Battle of Bannockburn some years later.
Today the city abounds with Braveheart
fans set on recapturing the Scotland of old.
From the famous Stirling Castle atop an extinct
volcano, visitors can enjoy superb views of the Forth
Valley.
Stirling
is readily accessible from both Glasgow and Edinburgh
both by car and public transport. The city is
also well placed for onward travel to Inverness and
Aberdeen
